Free Chart - Sunset Love
Happy Saturday! Today I am offering another free chart. This is a simple chart that can be used as an alpha pattern for a hand knotted piece (mini tapestry or friendship bracelet), as a cross stitch chart, or any craft that involves the use of a charted pattern. However you use it, please enjoy and have fun!

Free Original Bookmark Chart
My beautiful little girl turned 3 on July 28th. I had carpel tunnel surgery on my right side (yep, right handed) on Aug 5th. It is difficult to knot, weave, stitch, cook, shower... it is difficult to do just about everything... and since I can't stand not doing something, I've been using old lefty to create some new charts.
This chart was designed with the idea of using it as a cross stitch bookmark. Of course, you can use it any way you like. I am planning to hand knot this chart as soon as the cast comes off. I will add photos of the finished piece when I finish it. Hopefully before September comes.
If you just want the alpha pattern, you can right-click and save, if you want the cross stitch .pdf file, which includes chart info and color scheme info, click link under chart. This chart is offered free of charge. Please enjoy it and feel free to share your photos if you use my design.

Free Charts: 1 Design, 3 Variations
Happy Sunday! Today I am offering a new alpha pattern. I have created 3 color variations of the same design. This pattern will work great for hand knotting floss or yarn bracelets (friendship bracelets) and can also be used for small cross stitch border pattern, or a loom bead pattern. Enjoy!

Free Patterns For All!
Hi everyone-
I am happy to announce that I will be publishing some of my patterns on this blog. The patterns that I create can be used for a variety of crafts and hobbies. The software I use to create and publish my designs is called StitchSketch Pro. I will be sharing the charts only. Please right-click to save the patterns you want. You are welcome to use the color schemes I have chosen, or come up with your own. The patterns are free to use and enjoy.
The most wonderful thing about charts (also known as alpha patterns, grids, or graphs - and others) can be used for so many things. You can use them for hand-knotting friendship bracelets patterns, micro macrame, cross-stitch charts, loom beading patterns, pixel art patterns, Perler Bead patterns, Filet Crochet patterns, Knitting motifs, Tapestry Weaving... and probably more.
If you are like me you've probably used a cross stitch border to make a hand-knotted bracelet, and vice versa. I have gone so far as to use the charted solutions for Japanese Crossword Puzzles to create hand-knotted creations.
I have a lot of fun creating beautiful works of art and wearable art pieces and am happy to share some of my designs with you. In the future, I will likely release only one design at a time... but for my introductory post, I am sharing a batch of basic designs that are fantastic for beginners. Please enjoy.

Spring Weaving
i just wanted to share the item I just added to my front door. It is my first completed larger scale weaving. For me, it was a shape and fringe practicing piece. I thought it would be nice to hand on the door in lieu of a wreath for spring.

The Four Knots of Micro Macrame or Friendship Bracelets
When I first starting knotting, I found it very difficult to get my knots to look good. Unless you were born to knot, you will take some time to get really good results. It takes practice... a lot of it... but if you enjoy knotting, you won't mind. I didn't - I don't! I am always practicing.
I wanted to get good, so I went searching for every tutorial I could find. No one can tell you how to make a good knot. I cannot stress it enough. It takes trial and error... wasting a ton of string or other media.. it is going to happen. At one point, I'm sure more floss went into the trash than into a final piece.
Don't over complicate! You have been making knots your entire life. You are already an expert!
As we know, there are two styles of hand knotting. There are "Normal" patterns, and "Alpha" or "alphabet" patterns. Normal patterns, which we will be learning shortly, uses 4 types of knots. The forward knot, backward knot, backward-forward knot, and forward-backward knot. The alpha patterns only use two knots, the forward and the backward knots.
Before you can start, you should be able to read the knotting symbols. This will help you understand and follow the patterns.

Above is my trusty note card. You are welcome to print or copy it for your personal use.
Beginning Knot Tying Tips:
- As you can see from my sketch - each knot is actually made up of (2) two knots. If you don't make two knots... you will not achieve the results you are looking for.
- Think of it as though the first knot is the lock, but the second knot is the chain! It is locking the knot in place.
- Start practicing the four knots and learning how to read the knotting symbols and patterns. Check out BraceletBook.com and Friendship-Bracelets.net to see tons of examples of patterns.
- Great starter patterns include the candy stripe, and the chevron. I will go into detail on all of this in future posts. In the meantime, if you have any questions, please get in touch.

Weaving in progress
This is a photo of the weaving I'm working on now. I've just started working on the "M" for my daughter Madeline. I'm using colors she loves... They are really vibrant. I'm having fun with this one... It's a shape sampler.
