<br />
I adore the following 2 pieces, and you can see more on SAAM by clicking the artists name above.<br />
<br />
I tend to strive for <i>perfection</i> when I use string to create works of art. So afraid a string or knot or weave will be out of line or out of place etc. I believe it is one of the things that holds me back from truly expressing myself using this medium.<br />
<br />
These <span style="color: blue;"><b>breath-taking</b></span> pieces help me see what is possible when you just let go and do what you <span style="color: red;"><b>love</b></span> to do.<br />
<br />
Nothing less than amazing and the thing that makes it so perfect... is imperfection.<br />

I took an extended break after the holidays, but I have started some new designs and hope to have some great things to post in the future.<br />
<br />
Remember the<b> <a href="https://www.jennifersknothome.com/2017/07/pretty-in-pink-free-chart.html">pink haired gal</a> </b>I created before Mr. Freeman? I am finally bringing her to life. I don't know if any of you knotted her to fruition... but I can't wait to see her and share her with you when she is done. Here is my progress so far -<br />

Free!<a href="http://www.twinkledeals.com/plus-size-tops/drop-shoulder-side-slit-smock/p_625124.html?lkid=10295376" target="_blank"><img src="http://gloimg.twinkledeals.com/td/pdm-product-pic/Clothing/2016/10/18/source-img/20161018154317_68587.jpg?20141203001" /></a><br />
<br />
The above shirt is one that I got from TwinkleDeals.com. I joined the site after my sister got me a dress there. At first, I wasn't even aware that you could earn and win free clothes. It was a bonus when I was offered the above shirt for free. I pin all of the clothes I want to buy from TwinkleDeals.com on <a href="https://www.pinterest.com/manicgirl75/plus-size-fashion/" target="_blank">Pinterest</a> anyway... so why not earn clothes! I've also earned a free dress, and plan to buy from this site frequently. A few things to keep in mind about the site. Orders are coming from the Orient... so it could take a long time to get your order... but it will come. The sizes are much smaller than you would normally find. For example a 7x might only be a size 18 US. Be sure to check the measurements. Each item has measurements listed on the sale page.<br />
<br />
I don't buy into gimmicks and promotion sites. I wasn't looking for this... it kind of found me. I am posting about it on my blog to share the love with you, and also to show off the great plus size fashions I find while shopping there.Jenniferhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11399748611525188707noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6319572827404463517.post-20130592905095855582017-01-03T09:39:00.000-08:002017-01-03T09:47:07.251-08:00If this offends you...<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I finished knotting this female pop art piece yesterday. To date, it is my largest piece completed at 56 strings. It is big enough to be a coin purse, which I am considering, but still have lots of back-work to clean up and knot etc etc. You can get or see this pattern <a href="http://www.braceletbook.com/pattern_alpha/21483.html" target="_blank">here</a> at BraceletBook.com</div>

I finished this one. It's one of my favorites. I made a few mistakes, but that's what makes it special. It's from a pattern found <a href="http://www.braceletbook.com/pattern_alpha/17466.html" target="_blank">here</a> at BraceletBook.com. I changed up the colors a bit.</div>

<br />
I am always looking out for different objects to weave on. I don't know why I started doing this, but it is so much fun for me, and it will make me really happy to share my ideas with you so that you can try them too!<br />
<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj4mnzvhWTsHWhyDD6nH46cmz63ImoB7DY-M1QzmfXH125yRFafS-up02VSv7wUsI4an-0fr7GKtB1upXN-srgyL0ZIDG6Pr-HmLgHMr1dSXwt36A4xKnUAI0aikzNqQ3R09ykH62clGSs/s1600/IMG_9384.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj4mnzvhWTsHWhyDD6nH46cmz63ImoB7DY-M1QzmfXH125yRFafS-up02VSv7wUsI4an-0fr7GKtB1upXN-srgyL0ZIDG6Pr-HmLgHMr1dSXwt36A4xKnUAI0aikzNqQ3R09ykH62clGSs/s400/IMG_9384.JPG" width="298" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">1. Warp it 2. Weave it 3. Love it</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This first weaving loom idea can be started with a quick trip to a <a href="https://www.dollartree.com/" target="_blank">Dollar Tree</a> store to pick up one of these handy dandy plastic bins. If you are like me, you already have at leave a hundred. I use them to sort floss, pens, markers, and other craft related items for me and my 3 year old daughter. They are very useful. I even use them in the kitchen for organizing snacks in the cabinets and in the utensil drawer. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiiNir4oKZ3ccKpOsS_4MWKCjJrfP8CIxgd7akvuckKH-qDGuzQFOsNp3L4QUrUa3ZvxjW9b43e44tM1PFltGBYmQAhrH91Rzlevb9DS9_pWdkCpKiCecMZmiy8lHCM62LL5xyqwG5HZ1Y/s1600/IMG_9385.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiiNir4oKZ3ccKpOsS_4MWKCjJrfP8CIxgd7akvuckKH-qDGuzQFOsNp3L4QUrUa3ZvxjW9b43e44tM1PFltGBYmQAhrH91Rzlevb9DS9_pWdkCpKiCecMZmiy8lHCM62LL5xyqwG5HZ1Y/s400/IMG_9385.JPG" width="298" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I tested the process going completely around the bin with the warp string, and through the existing holes. For me, the holes worked much better. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEizKcGZurHKFj4AWnfPgZCXtFGstcW3MtqOfOdbO7GIhUqgTB4RT4_y0QuBYICJ1qi5JC9KZHtivAnn6KO4cbX0njPz6ydd2aLqjZi1pE9aUvua96hpWK2hxCjSkBEO13_ZhZIsTmwp9nk/s1600/IMG_9397.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEizKcGZurHKFj4AWnfPgZCXtFGstcW3MtqOfOdbO7GIhUqgTB4RT4_y0QuBYICJ1qi5JC9KZHtivAnn6KO4cbX0njPz6ydd2aLqjZi1pE9aUvua96hpWK2hxCjSkBEO13_ZhZIsTmwp9nk/s320/IMG_9397.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Next, I just wanted to see what was possible... so I did a few different test squares for fun. I did a combination of both hand knotting techniques and weaving techniques. I think some of the combinations looks beautiful together and will make lovely pieces of hand made, hand woven, hand knotted jewelry.</div>
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Top square: hand knotting technique - alpha style knotting</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The best part about this particular loom idea is that you can toss all of your supplies into the bin, warped and all... and take it in the car, on vacation, to the doctors office... wherever you go, you can have a loom with you so you never have to stop creating. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
If you give this idea a try... I would love to see what you have come up with. Enjoy!</div>

When I first found <a href="http://friendship-bracelets.net/" target="_blank">Friendship-Bracelets.net</a>, I'm pretty sure I spent several months going through all the patterns, and tutorials they have on the site. I couldn't stop looking at the patterns long enough to make any of them. I still spend a lot of time there looking at the latest and greatest additions to their already enormous stock. New gems are added daily by community members. In addition to normal friendship bracelet patterns, they also have tons of alpha patterns and kumihimo patterns. Whatever your poison, or whether you are a beginning or pro, knotter, cross stitcher, or general crafter... you will not leave this site without saving at least a couple hundred designs. </div>
<br />
This is just a couple of my favorite selections during my visit today. These are smaller patterns, ranging from 8 strings to 12 strings. I'm sure if you're here, you've probably already been there... if not, you should head there now because you've got a lot to see. I'm going to check out the new alphas... maybe I'll share those too. Enjoy!<br />

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This chart was designed with the idea of using it as a cross stitch bookmark. Of course, you can use it any way you like. I am planning to hand knot this chart as soon as the cast comes off. I will add photos of the finished piece when I finish it. Hopefully before September comes.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
If you just want the alpha pattern, you can right-click and save, if you want the cross stitch .pdf file, which includes chart info and color scheme info, click link under chart. This chart is offered free of charge. Please enjoy it and feel free to share your photos if you use my design.</div>

Happy Sunday! Today I am offering a new alpha pattern. I have created 3 color variations of the same design. This pattern will work great for hand knotting floss or yarn bracelets (friendship bracelets) and can also be used for small cross stitch border pattern, or a loom bead pattern. Enjoy!</div>

<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I am happy to announce that I will be publishing some of my patterns on this blog. The patterns that I create can be used for a variety of crafts and hobbies. The software I use to create and publish my designs is called StitchSketch Pro. I will be sharing the charts only. Please right-click to save the patterns you want. You are welcome to use the color schemes I have chosen, or come up with your own. The patterns are free to use and enjoy.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
The most wonderful thing about charts (also known as alpha patterns, grids, or graphs - and others) can be used for so many things. You can use them for hand-knotting friendship bracelets patterns, micro macrame, cross-stitch charts, loom beading patterns, pixel art patterns, Perler Bead patterns, Filet Crochet patterns, Knitting motifs, Tapestry Weaving... and probably more. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
If you are like me you've probably used a cross stitch border to make a hand-knotted bracelet, and vice versa. I have gone so far as to use the charted solutions for Japanese Crossword Puzzles to create hand-knotted creations.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I have a lot of fun creating beautiful works of art and wearable art pieces and am happy to share some of my designs with you. In the future, I will likely release only one design at a time... but for my introductory post, I am sharing a batch of basic designs that are fantastic for beginners. Please enjoy.</div>

It is my first completed larger scale weaving. For me, it was a shape and fringe practicing piece. I thought it would be nice to hand on the door in lieu of a wreath for spring.<br />

Unless you were born to knot, you will take some time to get really good results. It takes practice... a lot of it... but if you enjoy knotting, you won't mind. I didn't - I don't! I am always practicing.<br />
<br />
I wanted to get good, so I went searching for every tutorial I could find. No one can tell you how to make a good knot. I cannot stress it enough. It takes trial and error... wasting a ton of string or other media.. it is going to happen. At one point, I'm sure more floss went into the trash than into a final piece.<br />
<br />
<b>Don't over complicate!</b> You have been making knots your entire life. You are already an expert!<br />
<br />
As we know, there are two styles of hand knotting. There are "<b>Normal" patterns</b>, and "<b>Alpha" or "alphabet" patterns</b>. Normal patterns, which we will be learning shortly, uses 4 types of knots. The <i>forward knot</i>, <i>backward knot, backward-forward knot, and forward-backward knot.</i> The alpha patterns only use two knots, the forward and the backward knots.<br />
<br />
Before you can start, you should be able to read the knotting symbols. This will help you understand and follow the patterns.<br />

<ul>
<li>As you can see from my sketch - each knot is actually made up of (2) two knots. If you don't make two knots... you will not achieve the results you are looking for. </li>
</ul>

<ul>
<li>Think of it as though the first knot is the lock, but the second knot is the chain! It is locking the knot in place.</li>
</ul>

<li>Start practicing the four knots and learning how to read the knotting symbols and patterns. Check out BraceletBook.com and Friendship-Bracelets.net to see tons of examples of patterns. </li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Great starter patterns include the <a href="http://friendship-bracelets.net/pattern.php?id=1" target="_blank">candy stripe</a>, and the <a href="http://friendship-bracelets.net/pattern.php?id=2" target="_blank">chevron</a>. I will go into detail on all of this in future posts. In the meantime, if you have any questions, please get in touch. </li>

I've just started working on the "M" for my daughter Madeline. I'm using colors she loves... They are really vibrant. I'm having fun with this one... It's a shape sampler.<br />

It was only .99 with 50% off. I'd say I got a great deal!<br />
